PUBLIC SAFETY
David believes safety is the number one priority for Marysville. He will work with community and neighborhood leaders to strengthen and expand initiatives such as the Marysville Volunteer Program, Neighborhood Watch, and Business Watch. David supports law enforcement, believes crime is best addressed at the street level, and will work to strengthen and expand policing that focuses on neighborhood engagement, preventing crime by addressing the underlying causes. That engagement is key to keeping Marysville’s families, businesses, and visitors safe.
FINANCIAL TRANSPARENCY
David believes you deserve to know how every one of your city tax dollars is spent. He supports regular performance audits to ensure you are getting the best possible value out of your money. Every penny received by our city should be easily accounted for and invested in areas that improve the lives of Marysville taxpayers.
IMPROVING OUR COMMUTES
Whether waiting for a train or just plain stuck at rush hour, commute times in Marysville must be addressed. David supports a robust public transit system along with improving and expanding our roads, especially routes to I-5 that get clogged with traffic due to railroad activity. David will start looking for solutions on day one, because Marysville needs traffic solutions now in addition to solid long-term planning. Light rail and other mass transportation options are part of the answer, but those options do not diminish the need to address our crowded roads.
LIVING WAGE JOBS
A living wage is the amount required for basic necessities and should be re-evaluated annually. Part of the basic necessity in this high cost of living area is rent and groceries. We cannot use national averages to calculate these numbers as that will be inaccurate for the high cost associated with those in our region. Every worker deserves a living wage. I support the increased minimum wage initiatives that are happening in our state. Just as all workers deserve a living wage, everyone deserves the opportunity to own their home as well.
